Social Impact Assessment (SIA) Training for an inner Eastern Sydney Council.
Situation: Council had prepared a draft Social Impact Assessment Development Control Plan (DCP). Council wanted both input into and workshopping of the DCP with its development assessment team, who would be at the frontline of inquiries from applicants about how to use the DCP.
Action:- RM Planning provided input into the content of the DCP, suggesting ways of clarifying expression of intent so as to eliminate any areas of doubt or risk of misinterpretation.
- We facilitated a workshop with Council officers on how to use the DCP and answer questions from the public about its purpose and content.
Outcome: The finalised DCP clearly articulated Council’s intentions, thereby minimising areas of doubt for applicants and risk to Council. Officers were trained to deal with public inquiries and development applications requiring SIA.
